Privacy & cookies.

This policy explains what personal data we process when you visit ataraxys.com, why, and your rights. It is written to meet the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where it applies, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Who is responsible

Cookies

This site sets no cookies for visitors and stores nothing on your device. It loads no third-party scripts, fonts, advertising or social-media plugins. If this ever changes, we will ask for your consent first and update this page.

Some news videos are hosted on YouTube or Vimeo. Until you press play, the page shows only an image from our own server and contacts neither service. Pressing play loads their player, in YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode or with Vimeo's do-not-track option; from then on their privacy policies apply.

Server logs

Like any web server, ours records technical data for each request (IP address, date and time, page requested, browser type) to keep the site secure and running. Legal basis: our legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). Logs are deleted after 6 months.

Visitor statistics

We count visits with our own tool, running on our own server, without cookies and without third parties. For each page view it records the page, the referring website (domain only), a device class derived from the screen width, the browser language, the country you connect from (as reported by Cloudflare, the network that delivers this site) and a visitor code. The code is computed from your IP address and browser with a random key that is kept in memory and replaced every day, so visits can be counted within a day but never traced back to you. Your IP address is never stored. Browsers that send Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control are not counted. Statistics are only used in aggregate and kept for 24 months. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).

Your rights

You may ask for access to, correction or deletion of your data, restrict or object to its processing, and receive it in a portable format. Write to [email protected]. You may also lodge a complaint with the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or, in the EU, with your local supervisory authority.
